Handbook Policies

RULES FOR ASSEMBLIES
During assemblies, courtesy should always be shown. Entering and leaving an auditorium, theater, or a gym should be done in a quiet and orderly manner. The appearance of someone on the stage or at the microphone is the automatic signal for silence. Clapping, unless invited by the performer, should be saved until the end of the performance. Whistling, yelling, and booing are always in poor taste and will not be tolerated.
FIELD TRIP POLICY
A part of Prescott Central Middle School curriculum is to provide as many positive and creative educational experiences as possible during the school year. Behavior and requirements for field trips are as follows:

  • All school rules will apply during the field trip--on site and on the bus.
  • Disruptive or discipline problem students will not be allowed to participate in field trips.
  • Disregard of school rules on field trips will result in disciplinary action and may result in students not being allowed to go on subsequent trips.
  • Parent permission notes will be sent home for signature with destination, dates, type of transportation, and departure/return time.
  • Permission notes must be returned twenty-four (24) hours before scheduled field trip or student will not be allowed to attend.
  • Students will not be allowed to ride with other parents in personal vehicles.

LOCKERS
Lockers should be kept neat and free from accumulated trash. Lockers are the property of Putnam County Schools and will be checked periodically by teachers and/or the administrative staff. Students must provide their own combination lock and provide their homeroom teacher with a copy of their lock combination. Large amounts of money or valuables should never be brought to school and left in lockers.
SCHOOL INSURANCE
Parents may purchase school insurance for their child under a group plan authorized by the Putnam County School Board. There are several different plans from which to choose. A description of the plans and the cost of each plan will be provided to each student to take home at the beginning of the school year.
PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION
Prescott Central Middle School would like to encourage each parent to get involved in our parent teacher organization. In order for a good line of communication to exist, it is important that you be involved in your child's school.
VISITOR POLICY
Parents and visitors are welcome at Prescott Central Middle School. All visitors and parents must enter through the front, sign in at the office, and obtain a visitors pass.
LOST AND FOUND
All articles found on the school grounds must be turned in to the proper places: library books to the librarian, text books to a teacher. Money and other valuables must be turned in to the main office. Articles of clothing will be turned in to the physical education office. Please permanently label any articles or items of clothing. Students are expected to care for all school property as if it were their own. Parents are responsible for the cost of lost or damaged property.
