SCHOOL BOOKSTORE AND LIBRARY
Prescott Central Middle School has a student bookstore where supplies may be purchased. The bookstore will be open each morning at 7:45 AM for students to purchase necessary items. The bookstore is located near the main office. The library is to provide an informative, comfortable atmosphere where curriculum and personal needs are met. Books may be checked out for a two week period and renewed once. Fifth graders are allowed to check out one book while sixth graders may check out two. Students are responsible for damaged or lost books.
VENDING MACHINE POLICY
Vending machines are located in different areas of the building for student use before school, during classroom breaks, and after school. There are a variety of drinks and snacks for a student to choose. If a student loses money in a machine, he or she must get a verification note from the teacher to take to the office for reimbursement. Students caught damaging machines or stealing products will be disciplined.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
All students have four and one half hours of core curriculum classes (English, math, social studies, science, spelling, and reading) per day. Encore classes (computer science, art, music, and library science) will also be offered as well as guidance, physical education, band, and choir. Putnam County grading scale used at Prescott is as follows:

COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PROGRAM
Tennessee state law states that, "It shall be unlawful for any child to attend any school or similar type facility intended for the instruction of children either public or private, unless they shall first have been vaccinated against those diseases specified by the state health department." In order to comply with the law, all Putnam County students must present to the school of enrollment a certificate of compliance regarding vaccination. Enforcement of this law will require removal of students from school if they are not adequately immunized. Students enrolling at Prescott Central Middle School from an out-of-state school must present the immunization compliance certificate at the time of enrollment. Students enrolling at Prescott Central Middle School from a school within the state may be enrolled on a tentative basis until cumulative records are received. A student with a communicable disease shall remain at home until the disease is no longer a danger to other students or school personnel. The principal or her designee will report to the Putnam County Health Department any cases which might pose a threat to the health of the school or community.
RECEIVING GIFTS AT SCHOOL
The following guidelines are for gifts sent or delivered to students on special occasions during the day. Deliveries will be made to the office between 2:00-2:45 PM and clearly marked with student's name, teacher, and grade.
